Today is the big day. But let's go back to the weeks before.

Since this week started I have extended Kumdo training hours and trained every day for today; my first real big Kumdo tournament in Seoul. Comment on October 19th, 2025: Considering my limited experience of less than one year Kumdo training my master still wanted me to have tournament experience before I’ll leave Seoul. I'm still so grateful for that.

Two weeks ago when I realized that the day is coming closer and closer I started to get really nervous. But somehow this tournament helped me a lot not only to train my physical skills but above that to train my mental status during a fight.

In Kumdo, remaining mentally stable is very important. I always knew this from theory but I think that I could understand parts of it for myself during the last days. For me, this means to focus on myself, staying calm and controlled before, during and after a strike. To be prepared for the opponents step and strikes but always to ignore what she does and always to keep the right distance until you can place the right hit.

A big part of all this was due to my master and my other teachers who focused a lot on me during every minute at our training hours. This has built a lot pressure on me but I needed it and I think I am prepared for today now. I am very thankful for all the help and care they give me.

We are on the way to the Seoul Sports Complex now.

I look forward to the matches but I guess I will get nervous soon too. But that is okay. As one of my friends told me just focus and try to get over the first fight.

Read about the outcome soon after the tournament day. Fightiiiing
